A) Saw episode 5 of No Heroics. The hackneyed "guy goes to a support group and makes fun of everyone else there" bit gets pulled out with Timebomb. She Force has a secret identity that she uses to keep from getting lonely, and apparently Norse Dave was in the Falklands war with Electroclash's dad and Excelsor, which makes me wonder, how fucking old is Excelsor? Electroclash is apparently not just obnoxious, but emotionally stunted and still rebelling against her parents.

God, I think it was actually worse than last week's Heroes.

B) You can buy Spelljammer from RPG.now for $5. Holy cow. I totally want to get that boxed set, some more 4E books (I'm coasting on the PH right now) and just run a campaign of that.

I always loved Spelljammer's concept. The fucked up physics. Phlogiston. Crystal spheres. Space hippo mercenaries. Giant Space Hamsters.

It got to be a mess (as many things do when they continue to be ground out) but the core is gonzo and neat.

And my best friend in the world is my codeine syrup. Oh, man, I'm gonna sleep well tonight. Shit. "Do not drink alcoholic beverages." Just a beer with dinner should be fine, eh? That was three hours ago.

If I die in the night, tell my wife I love her! And play Spelljammer in memorium.

edit: I mean, seriously, read this and tell me you don't wanna play:

Multitudes of worlds wheel through Wildspace. The crystal shells that encase them bob and drift in a turbulent, rainbow ocean which fills all the cosmos. Sturdy merchants, bold pirates, and daring explorers venture into the great, unknown vastness of the universe, seeking wealth and adventure. The SPELLJAMMER Game puts you in command of a fantastic ship capable of spanning the tremendous distances between planets. Graceful elven flitters, stately illithid galleys, deadly beholder tyrants, and the awesome Spelljammer itself carry trade, emissaries, and heroic action throughout all the worlds of the AD&D game.

I think Beholders and mind flayers are jsut stupid powerful in 4E now, aren't they?

Spelljammer was the game that turned my desire to play an Illithid up a few dials into an obsession. ;)

I love Spelljammer. I still have the boxed set and a ton of suppliments. I even have the notebook that I created about 30 new ships for the game world.

I also have the Planescape boxed set and several suppliments.

I think I might wait until 4.5 or 5th edition comes out before buying anything from WoTC. I have never, and will never (especially now since it is already obsolete) buy any 3rd Edition stuff. It was just a fundamentally flawed system imo.

Of course, considering that I am trying to publish my own role-playing system... everything else is competition *lol*

Oooo! Spelljammer! I LOVED that setting!

Might have to GM me something similar when I finally roll out the PBEM I'm currently conjuring rules for.

...and then there was the time that our voyage took MUCH longer than anticipated and we ran out of food. We stove off starvation purely because the Bullywug, fond of his flies, had kept a chestful of rancid meat upon which to breed the maggots. One Purify Food and Drink spell later...

In one of my campaigns a wizard crossed a Troll with Pig and the "Pig of everflowing Pork" was born.

Basically you could slice off a leg or other large portion, the pig would regenerate, and then you could have your pig and eat it too. All you had to do was feed it some scraps (and watch your hands since they had larger, sharper teeth), and you had a tough, nearly indestructable and renewable source of food.

Sure it looked and tasted a little funny, but when you are starving...

I asked on my weblog a few months back whether .gif was pronounced "as in peanut butter or as in space hippo." I'm glad someone got it.

I love how in the introduction to Spelljammer they bluntly offer you "everything you know about space travel is wrong"

I have a game I am working on that is Spelljammer-esque, but its not medieval. Just sayin.
