Very amused last night watching the first ep of this season's Corner Gas (the last of the series).

There's a discussion during which somehow the topic of who would win in a fight, Spider-man or Sasquatch comes up. Brent actually says "Wait, do you mean Sasquatch from Alpha Flight, or just a generic sasquatch?"

Made my geek heart glow, I tell you. I almost Hoo'd Win'd the conversation on the spot, but decided against it.

I do wonder if the Corner Gas website is still unmanageable.

Further fuel for the fire. (With help from the intarwebs) I remember Spidey and Wolverine fighting a sasquatch-like Wendigo in "Spiderman" issues 8 - 12 (starting March 1991). Could Pete have won out alone? We'll never know!

I'm glad they managed to work in an Alpha Flight reference somewhere in Corner Gas, considering how Brent always reads comics!

Yeah, and in many of the episodes. Whenever he does I always try and see if I can identify what he's reading, but he usually reads with the interior folded backwards covering both front and back cover, and I've mostly been unsuccessful at trying to determine what's going on in any of the panels. I _vaguely_ recall somewhere saying that the comic he reads in the credits is something like Captain Canuck, but my google-fu can't find a reference and so it might just as likely be wiki-nonsense or something I dreamed.

The only time I've actually seen what specific comic he's been reading was once where it was a Savage Dragon. There was also a flashback scene to a time in the 80s where Oscar was still running Corner Gas and they had a rack full of comics - the only one I can remember is Power Pack #9 (I believe), which, aside from being appropriate to the time period, oddly enough, guest starred Marrina of Alpha Flight (although she's not on the cover).

Yes, I spent way too much time thinking of this. ;)

I can't wait to see the new season when it comes out on DVD! Of course, if we had cable instead of satellite, I'd be able to watch it when it airs on the CBC... one of the very few advantages to cable in our area (but still not enough to make me switch back).

Actually, I haven't even seen Season 5 yet! It wasn't out on DVD the last time we were in Canada, but a quick glance at Amazon.ca shows that it's out and available now.

Now for decision time... order it from Amazon.ca or try to find a Saturday to do a run for the border (and I'd be shopping for more than just that DVD, so it would be worth the drive).

Calling Joe Quesada...
