While he was in New York and Boston my brother picked something up for me I said I'd liked.
The 'Iraq's most wanted' playing cards.
Okay, sure, it's a cute idea. But buying them was kind of dumb. They're gonna be GIVING them away in 6-8 months, probably with the purchase of a set of "Iran's most wanted".
That, and I don't recall that my desire was all that intense or legitimate. It's like Godzilla. I love the big G. Adore him. Mostly as an iconic expression of the power of the Atomic bomb, from the only people who've ever experienced it firsthand.
But my enthusiasm has caused Snra Bitter, on more than one occasion, to buy me something Godzilla like, at no insignificant cost, for my birthday. Not that I mind, the radioactive dust globe (it ain't snow, kids) is neat, and I love the Beanies. But I think she only got them for me because of on the spot enthusiasm. Which is lovely (bless her heart), but I'd prefer the Showtime grill one of these days. :)
Oh, yeah: Guess I ain't never becoming no author. Ah well; my hopes of travelling to a worldcon on a Canada Council grant have been dashed.
