I've suddenly got an idea
Apr. 22nd, 2008 04:45 pmI'm contemplating putting together a game where the PCs are members of a secret society based on or inspired by the Green Lanterns.
I mean, a distinctive ring, an oath, and distant superiors would be cool.
Maybe as a sort of Baker St Irregulars for the GL of a particularly busy sector (you know, one with fewer than four Lanterns).
Or it works well as a Steampunk setting type thing.
edit: The popular perception of the Freemasons also had no small influence on the idea.

We within the shadows lurk.
Shunning fame's revealing light,
Secretly, we make things right.

Date: 2008-04-24 12:01 am (UTC)My secret society shadows the British Royal Society, but for "superlatives", people with powers. At this point, after a bit of turnover, we have a costume designer (gageteer), a demon-possessed upper-class first-son-in-hiding (the EB), and a disgraced RA Cavalry officer (Brick). There were a couple other members in "Committee 47", but sadly the War has been hard on the roster (the werewolf got silvered, the ghost mystic was exorcised, and the faerie was killed by an iron cannon round).
