(edit: Yes, Heist is one of them too. Man.)

Jesus, you people watcha lot of movies.

The ones I've linked to IMDB on are the ones that I was unfamiliar with. The ones in italics are the ones I've seen.

Now, a few would go off pretty quick. Reservoir Dogs is a bit heavy (even compared to The Usual Suspects), and is more around a heist than about one.

Of course, TUS could be disqualified on the grounds it's not a proper heist film; the core theft is sort of a stop along the way for the plot. I just like it, though.

A Fish Called Wanda is also around/after a heist, but is just darn funny. So, it stays on.

Boondock Saints would probably be in a different category. Maybe Comic Book movies that aren't based on comic books?

Hmmm. Maybe I do need ground rules. Okay, a heist film for the purposes of this discussion is a film whose action is based around one single robbery, wether of money, jewels, or other negotiable materials. It must deal with the planning and execution of that criminal activity, and may include the consequences thereof. Which disallows TUS, since it's about two crimes at least. But I really like it. Dammit.

National Treasure gets dropped on account of goofiness. Hudson Hawk could remain a contender.

Pelham 1-2-3's hostage taking would fit, although it's a very '70s film, and doesn't fit exactly into what we're looking at here.

Man. Just gets harder, don't it?

I don't think "Pelham" really fits. Neat little action picture, though.

I'll push even harder for "Rififi." Seriously, it's not only a great heist film, it's in the Criterion Collection. You don't get more pedigreed than that shit.

By your extended explanation, Time Bandits shouldn't be on the list. It's most certainly more about the "After".

But it's about the coolest damn movie ever, so you need to see it eventually.

Seriously, you need to watch _The Killing_, by these new ground rules especially. Omitting it now is like having "Funny Cartoon Rabbit Night" and not screening any Bugs Bunny.

Since I'ðve seen the definition now, I'll add one movie which fits.

Ronin (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0122690/)

How do you have a Heist Movie list and not have Heist on there?

I concur!!

I insist on Snatch, then. While the movie actually STARTS with the heist, but the consequences of the stolen diamond run through the entire film.

Heist or not, it must be seen.

I'd vote for Rififi too. The thing is, so many heist movies are based on it that you're basically seeing dozens all at once just by watching this one.

True...but it's better than 90% of them.

Don't worry: I can't think of two foreign films more accessible and aimed at guys than "Rififi" or "Big Deal on Madonna Street." They're incredibly fun movies.
