Whoops! Apparently Scrabulous got slapped with a C&D. Ouch.

Thank God I uninstalled it a while back. Primarily because I suck at it, mind you.

I guess it's only a matter of time until My Heroes Power gets knocked down, too.

"We encourage fans to continue to lay down online tiles at sites that have legally licensed the interactive rights to host Scrabble fun," the two companies said.

HAY KIDS!
COME TO OUR SITE FOR SOME LEGALLY LICENSED FUN!

Me, I'm wondering why they don't just hire the guys and buy the site. It's not like Scrabble's feeling the bite from Scrabulous, this is just copyright enforcement. And considering they could easily put Scrabulous out of business and the owners in jail without breaking a sweat, I doubt the price would be anything other than fair.

Seriously. Unless Mattel has some LONG TERM FUN TIME LICENSING DEAL with another site (Yahoo! Games had Literati, which I used to play a few years back; called it Fake Scrabble) I can't understand why the idea wouldn't occur to them to tap the current hotness of Facebook and get in on that action, rather than just playing the Lawyer Game.

Corporate stupidity, most likely. Corporations so rarely realize that maybe the people breaking the copyright are on to something.

I was so not impressed with that, no more Facebook scrabble :(

one article I read said these guys admitted they were earning $25,000 a month from the advertising on the application... I'd say that is a bit of a bite for TPTB. But I agree that they should just buy it off them or employ them or something.

Hiho,

Yeah, and they hit the Bogglerific (or whatever it's called) one too at the same time. They seem to be cruising through Facebook, shutting down anything that smells like theirs...

Cu,
Andrew

Because Hasbro is going to chase you down and stab you? Fuck it; you should REINSTALL it over this. Scrabulous is nothing but good for Scrabble and Hasbro, and they need to be forced to realize that.
