I installed Clustrmaps the other day, and it's been awful quiet since then, but now it's reflecting actual traffic (and does anyone know if there's a way to see what IPs are coming to your LJ, and if any google searches are coming to it?).

And there's something quite interesting there. In addition to the normal smattering of visits from across North America, there's a visitor from Iran.

Now, with the somewhat... less than positive meaning of my last name in Persian, I don't know how to feel about that.

It's the clever little linguistic things, I guess. In Arabic, it's just "warrior", but in Persian it's "infidel", more or less.

Cool Last Name Challenge

Ok, I'm not sure I can beat "Enemy of God" but I can sure give you a run for your money. Here's the appropriate quote from Wikipedia about my surname:

"Duffy is a surname of Irish origin. It comes from the original Irish name Ó Dubhthaigh, meaning descendant or grandson of Dubhthach. Dubhthach was an Old Irish first name meaning "Dark one". "

And although there are a few interpretations of my first name, the most common is the celtic "Warrior".

Yes, that's right. My name translates to:

Warrior Descendant of the Dark One.

Ya gotta admit, that's pretty cool.

Since some here are talking about name meanings, I'll chime in, what the hell.

My first name has two origins. In English, it's a place name, after a county in England. In Hindi, it means "god-like" or "divine". I like that better.

My last name also is a place name, an English name meaning Saint Maur, named after a church in France.
