Just out of curiosity, does your spouse/life partner/etc, have access to your email (in case of emergency, etc)?

And, yes, this poll does neglect people not currently in a longterm relationship.

[Poll #1083295]

Nope, but my parents do. I'm not seeing anyone right now.

The boy has access to my everything; I use the same password for everything. He doesn't use that access. But he has it, if he needs it. I meanly count on trust to maintain my privacy. Not that my privacy means too much to me... I don't think anything in my "private" life would surprise him.

Even more, we know eachothers Warcrack passwords!

I figure, if we live together, and I trust her with my car keys, there's not much point in not trusting her with my email.

Well, I did. Or, at least she had it, whether or not I actually wanted her too.

I always hoped she wasn't disappointed by the distressing lack of hot "wimmens" I was having multiple affairs behind her back with.1 Or at least impressed by how well we disguised these alleged affairs as endless prattlings about gaming.

Kind of like in [livejournal.com profile] shara's post, I don't think I had anything to hide from my Spouse, Common Law, x1, so there never was anything more secure than clicking on the "Log In as Doug" button stopping her from doing so.

Doug.

1. Too be clear ... that number was zero.

Ditto. She knows the passwords, and for most stuff, I have it set to keep me logged in. Likewise, I can check hersif need be.

My email is separate from my wife's, but not securely separate. Like most other things in our domestic partnership, we maintain our privacy through politeness more than anything else. I don't go snooping through her purse; she don't go snooping through my email. 8/

My wife has access, but is usually only used on an "as needed" basis. Most commonly, it's because I set up a bill-paying account, but she does the paying, and needs to see the receipt.

My wife has access . . . but no interest. Same with me on her computer, I think. But my lack of interest means I haven't actually confirmed access.

No, wait, it's not lack of interest, it's complete and total *trust*, yeah, that's it . . . it's not that we have totally boring lives or anything.

Sort-of. She doesn't know my password, but I do keep my e-mail open in a tab and therefore theoretically accessible to her on the main PC at will. She doesn't usually read my e-mail - I'm a territorial fellow and she knows that annoys me - but she does tend to skim subject lines and ask me about things or point out that there's something I should probably read. I do know her password, however - she wanted me to know it. She doesn't care if I read her e-mail, and frequently tells me to read it aloud to her so she won't have to go to the box herself to read it.

I hate reading e-mails meant for other people, so her e-mail account would be totally sacred to me even though I know the pass if she didn't explicitly ask me to read it for her. I'll read hers to her because I love her and because that way I don't necessareily have to surrender my seat - but certain e-mails I'll insist that she boot me and read for herself.

My wife has total access to my email accounts, because she's the one who manages our domain hosting. I need a new accoutn, I ask her.

She never USES that access; what's the point?

Hey, how do you do that snapShots thing with your links?

Nah but only because it's never come up...it's open on my computer most of the time and he could look if he wanted to.

Though preferably not now through Christmas since I'm doing Ebay and stuff and wouldn't want him to see the answers. :)

His e-mail is open on his computer all the time but I never look unless he wants me to read something.

Not in a relationship, but I view my computer as private as my brain; stuff gets out of my brain by my choice, stuff leaves my computer by my choice.

Were I in a LTR, key passwords and a battle plan for making sure everything I digitally possess got to the appropriate place if I was unable to function would be kept somewhere safe.

Some styles don't do it, from what I can tell. I haven't looked into it deeply because I don't care, but it doesn't show up in my journal.

I'm not in a LTR but... speaking from experience, a) sometimes ignorance is bliss and it's really better not to know. and b) your partner can give you all the access you want but there's no telling how many email accounts there are that you simply don't know about. :D
