Chad may be a douchebag and all, and his music may indeed suck, but I thought that the impressario quoted in the article (CEO of Tourism Charlottetown?) made a good point; the event wasn't really conceived of, or promoted as, family friendly.

Is in the same class as certain folks in TO getting torqued over the "Barenaked Ladies"?

I mean, you can't really hire a foul-mouthed hard rocker to put on a foul-mouthed hard rock show, and then get all huffy when, heaven forfend!, he turns out to have a foul mouth, can you?

(But as to your general assessment of Nickelback, I agree.)

Yes it does. It's crappy to be assy to your fans. They are the ones who put you there and they can sure as hell remove you too.

On that point, I agree. It just seemed a bit unclear to me from the article how much of it was Nickelback being assy to their fans (I can believe that), and how much of it was "town parents saying 'oh no, how shocking!'" when they got something they asked for but didn't realize that they'd asked for (which I can also totally believe).

What's with the Nickelback hate? There music is ok, not brilliant, but ok. Besides, it's a frigging rock concert. I don't care if it's Canada Day, sometimes people swear on stage. It happens, deal and move on.

I saw the Headstones in Ottawa, the dude swore and spit on the crowd.
No complaints in the paper the next day. Hugh Dillon was a Rock God.

Ugh one more reason (like I needed another one) to not buy their music.

The year that Nicholas Brendon and Amber Benson did the MMVA's I went and my friend was so disappointed that Nickleback came down the red carpet before my Buffy people because she wanted to throw plastic dog poop at them but didn't want to get kicked out 'til I'd seen the people I came to see.

Side note Nickelback were asses and didn't sign any autographs for any fans, straight to the press then straight inside. I was so glad I wasn't there to see them!

Don't get me started on Hugh Dillon. He's a welcher.

Nickelback does suck, however. They do suck consistently, though; each song sounds pretty much the same.
