At a pot luck, my Ukrainian coworker brought a jar of homemade carrot slaw. She said it was called Korean carrot salad, but an Asian coworker said that where she was from it was called Russian carrot salad.

Nobody seems to want to own up to inventing it, but it was tasty, all carrots and garlic and vinegar.

I love that movie The Vikings rocks!!

But yeah, Tony Curtis as a Viking is kind of a stretch of believablity. I think they just really, REALLY wanted Janet Leigh in the movie and they were a package deal *lol*

Oh and Danishes come from Vienna. In Denmark they're called "Vienna Bread". In Vienna they're called "Copenhagen Pastries". Apparently in Copenhagen, they're called Danishes. In Iran they'll caled "Roses of the Prophet Mohammed" because in Iran everything Danish is evil and giving the Prophet credit for everything is good.

It's referred to in the current tense on Wikipedia and there are no stories on them having relented, and it was passed as an official rule by some sort of Iranian baker's guild. So it's probably officially permanent, and given the common outrage it might actually stick.
