No, sadly.

Jack's still breathing.

I've mentioned it before, but in case you missed it - The only difference I see is that if it were 50 years ago, Thompson would be blaming everything on Batman, instead of pretending that he IS Batman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Thompson_(attorney)#Rap_music).

Wertham was misguided and incorrect, but I will give him this much: he honestly believed what he wrote.

Jack's just a media whore, and that's what pisses me off about the guy; he might succeed in doing real damage to American freedoms just because he loves the spotlight. Still, getting pwned by Chris Matthews...that had to hurt.

He's not allowed to be outraged. Only the cool kids are allowed to be outraged these days.

I don't think Fred was as crazy.

VIOLENCE! SMUT! DEGRADATION!

A good thing Wertham never lived to see "Ichi the Killer", hm?

The thing that disqualifies him from comparison to Wertham: by the end of his life, Dr. Wertham regretted what he had done to comics.

Anyone or any movement that tries to think for people annoys me.

I have to agree here. Jack Thompson is nasty, crazy and egostical. Wertham didn't seem to share any of those flaws in particular, though he may have had a long lasting negative effect on the comic industry. I don't know that Jack has had any real effect other than wasting tax payer's money and making a fool out of himself.

Shortly after you left yesterday night, the computer I was working on crashed and I totally lost the ALPHA FLIGHT cover, dude.

Not only will ROM have a presence in the FOOM group but I've started scanning the two-part X-Men story from circa #18.

I'm still awash with the glow of MIGHTY MARVEL STRENGTH AND FITNESS BOOK possibility right now.

I agree - I also think that, however narrowly focused as Werthan was, he actually thought he was going to help some parent with a problem kid somewhere.

Thompson is as crazy as a bag of cats in a nylon bag in the showers with you at the Y.

I may have sold my soul totally to the Mythos, but I actually see a Great Old One from "AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS" in your icon...

It seems there will always be Werthams, Tipper Gores and now this Thompson fool.

My favourite is neocon twit inesh D'Souza (http://newsbloggers.aol.com/2007/04/18/where-is-atheism-when-bad-things-happen/) who blames the Virginia Tech massacre on atheism because Richard Dawkins was not invited to speak at Virginia Tech afterward! Go Dinesh!

Well, all is not lost - we don't have a copy( not of Marvel Age #2, that is) - but I have an idea that actually might get us a better version of the image w less text covering the picture - Lemme see what I can do.

And yes, seeing as that X-Men Hybrid Story will never be reprinted anywhere else -Parker Brothers, (and that means, WotC, doesn't it?) have upped their licensing fee for the ROM character - I feel no guilt whatsoever in posting the two of em' up on FOOM - soon, very soon, Sahib.
