There's also a new series of Kitchen Nightmares on Food Network. It's why I was up at 1:30 last night.

Saw the original when I was in England, and the US version just pales in comparison. It sounds like I'm being uppity, but it's true, unfortunately.

Yes, you've mentioned that. The English folks keep saying his absence improves the show.

It's not just the announcer - although I can see why the Brits hate him, they probably see him on just about everything since the channels all tend to re-use the same 3 TV personalities over there. I found him amusing because he was fresh, at least to me. He'd definitely wear after a couple of years though.

Additionally, the chefs were much better, at least to me - and the series I saw had an English and a French chef, so there was a proxy battle of the national cuisines as well.

So, yeah, maybe it sounds snobbish, but I prefer the original.
