Got a bundle of books yesterday. Apparently the Fallen Son one-shots are not off to a strong start, although I enjoyed Denial enough. The latest 52 was a strong one, focusing on the new Question and Batwoman. I got the last issue of Planet Hulk (Good timing!) as well as the first issue of The Initiative; man, Slott can do downers when he wants to, eh?

Also got Buffy 8 #2 and Runaways # 25. Man, I knew I should have gotten the second and third hcs for that book. I'm SO behind.

But, yeah, I figured I'd just start by kvetching about Omega flight, because that's how I roll. So: Omega Flight #1: Sploiler alert!

Okay, I'm torn. First off, the premiere superteam of the GWN is back, with only one original member. So far, the Yanks aren't on the team yet, and Walter "I'm not dead yet!" Langowski is being handled fairly well.

The first issue is mostly his story. It's sort of a 'getting the band back together on government orders' story, with a mysterious CSIS agent. He's approached Talisman, who seems iffy on the idea, and been told that USAgent and Arachne will be joining him as well.

Oh, yeah: Someone tell Marvel we only had a female PM for six months, and that was 15 years ago. Fuckin' idiots.

Hey, question: Are there multiple helicarriers in the MU? Because there were what looked like CF-18s (although the markings looked off) flying by a helicarrier.

Beta-Ray Bill's appearance is kinda heavily foreshadowed by Sasquatch's vicious beatdown at the hands of The Wrecking Crew. On the plus side, he spends a lot of time kicking the crap out of them in righteous canuck rage before they regroup. Assuming that BRB will show up to save the day is logical, since they're second rate Thor villains, and he's a second rate Thor.

It's not as bad as it could be, which I suppose is a blessing. Of course, now the book is 20% done, and I hope that's not 20% of the story.

So who's the PM, Belinda Stronach?

Is she Liberal or Conservative, or does Marvel realize we have those parties? I'm assuming not NDP.

Is she a little Bush clone like Harper?

I bought Runaways 25 yesterday too but now I think I should catch up on the series before I read it so I'm working my way through them as fast as I can :)

And I also clearly got the new Buffy one since I only intended to buy that... Silver Snail is a dangerous place sometimes lol

Pick up Runaways Saga #1. It's a one-shot, written as a diary of the youngest character, that neatly summarizes the storyline up to this point. Thanks to my Friendly Local Comics Shop Guy's advice, I picked it up along with #25, and it caught me up nicely, even though I've never even skimmed an issue before now.

Now, I PLAN to pick up the TPBs at some point, but I don't have to put off reading the regular series until I DO.

pocket, I saw the huge hardcover edition that had all the issues in it but I wasn't sure if I'd like them enough to get that... also I move in a few months, smaller books = easier to move.

About the Helicarriers?

Definitely multiple 'Carriers - of several classes - in active service these days. They've actually been naming the things, too!

Whoops.

Well, DC's already fallen into the habit of fictional US Presidents, Canadian PMs, UN Secretaries-General, and NYC Mayors. It was only a matter of time for Marvel.

Except that doesn't explain President Luthor.

I liked the idea, but I still think they didn't go as far with it as they could've.

52 was good this week - Montoya as the new Question is actually turning out pretty okay. Plus, Nighwing made a nice apperance.
I'm just hoping that the storyline for 52 is not overlooked as everyone looks towards the new series starting up.
Also, are they ever going to get around to Starfire and Adam Strange again?!

Helicarrier Names

I'd personally hope for the Pearson to be the name of any SHIELD Helicarrier assigned to Canadian ops.

That is, if you're referring to stuff outside of 52...

Not sure that Pearson would've signed off on that sort of crap if he'd been allowed to know of it.

Silver Snail?

You need to visit their Ottawa store. Far more navigable. Same range of merchandise.
