What's the deal?
Feb. 20th, 2007 10:46 pmCan anyone tell me why the heck so many zombie movies get shot in TO? I mean, sure, there is (or at least was) a thriving film industry, and a talented SFX crews and Sarah Polley. But you can find all these things in other places.
It's not like all the RomComs got filmed here one year, or all the gangster movies, or all the musicals about 1920s Chicago (oh, wait! They did! Suck it, Chi-town!). But for a while, if it involved the shambling undead, and wasn't about an Englishman, you could probably expect to see a GTA town hall in it somewhere.
I keep meaning to see Day of the Dead, if only to support our most beloved sister Sarah Polley
In other news, Japanese Animators get paid in ramen.

Date: 2007-02-21 01:57 pm (UTC)Wow, and that's Japan. I wonder how animators are paid in Korea? I've noticed in the recent past that a lot of animated shows made for what seems to be the NA market also seem to be chock full of Korean names in the credits.
Kind of makes one wonder whether there's a more complicated story behind the salaries mentioned for American animators, and whether most animated product in NA is in fact not produced on the backs of American animators, because it just wouldn't be economically feasible. All the high-paying, or glamour jobs go to American animators while all the nasty or boring work gets shipped overseas where labour is cheap?
