Ambrose Bierce... An underappreciated cynic, the author of the Devil's Dictionary, true genius. I may have a copy of the Devil's Dictionary around here, otherwise I'm sure you can find it online.

Despite being over a hundred years old, many of his comments on politics and the human condition are still true today.
