[livejournal.com profile] gamera_spinning pointed this out: A fan film of Lobo's Christmas Special.

I've got a long standing hatred for Lobo, and never really got the joke. But he's popular, so I figured someone out there might enjoy this. The makeup looks fairly good, and the guy who plays Lobo has good arms, which is 80% of the character.

Apparently they forbid embedding, so it's a link. Eh.

Edit: This one, on the other hand, looks pretty bad. It's a trailer for a JSA Fan Film. Maybe there are effects I'm just not seeing, but it looks like they just filmed the guy playing The Flash running at normal speed. The costumes look... interesting, except for the Spectre's, which looks like just a cape (couldn't afford white long johns?), and the Sandman's gun looks like a hair dryer.

I saw this some time ago, and read the original comic. It's a good translation of the comic, surprisingly enough.

Lobo's one of those things I really, really have to be in the mood for to appreciate.

Wow, look at Flash go! Windows Movie Maker has a x2 speed video effect that you can just keep piling on until the video is running at x16 normal or something.

Wow. That guy does look like Lobo - and the film is just as appealing as the comic! Heh.

Why is the Flash beating up Slash from Guns 'n' Roses?

Best line...

"Don't I recognize you?"

"Yes! I'm the fucking Easter Bunny!"

Lobo is beyond question my favorite superhero of all time. But then, most Lobo-writers don't get it. For vintage Lobo, read Lobo vs. Batman. THAT'S real Lobo.

This fanfilm is shit. Their Lobo is completely without humour, and not nearly big enough.

Yeah, for Lobo you need either Alan Grant or Keith Geffen (preferably Geffen) with Simon Bisley doing the art. Did you read the sequel of sorts they had to PCS starring the Authority?

As an overall visual translation, this is actually pretty impressive, although the bootleg of a bootleg is pretty obnoxious. I personally didn't like the guy who did Lobo (you might remember him as the beefy henchman of that Russian guy who gets kicked into an engine in an episode of "Firefly.")

As for that JSA fan film...well, it is a bunch of teenagers shooting in basements, and I used to be a teenager shooting in a basement (well, a high school, same difference in the end), so I can't find it in my heart to be TOO mean. Still, they need to shell out for better tools.

None, but then again, I was self-aware enough to realize I didn't want these in front of the general public. It also looks like these guys were posted by someone else, so perhaps they weren't volunteers.

Either way, they need to take back the bottles and get Final Cut Express. FCX is their friend.
