One of the things that I find fascinating about the Bond themes is the way they can be divided into three broad genres: insturmental (the original theme; On Her Majesty's Secret Service); a kind of existential meditation on the emotional dangers of his profession (Live and Let Die; Living Daylights; You Know My Name); and ironic-love-songs-which-might-be-sung-to-the-villian-or-to-Bond-but-most-likely-both (the other 75% of them ranging from Nobody Does it Better [ok, so probably about Bond] to Goldfinger [ok, so probably about Goldfinger]). Even Die Another Day has a kind of sexual-psycho-drama overtone to it ('I'm gonna close my body'). Leave it to Duran Duran to require their own special sub-genre: the 'who's-kissing-what-in-the-where-now-Good-God-LeBon-what-the-hell-are-you-babbling-about?' subgenre of Bond themes.

Despite the mean things people say about Octopussy and For Your Eyes Only and despite the fact that it is the only one in the series that manages to combine the archetypes of Monster Tough Villainous Henchman and Bad Girl (ah Grace Jones, they'll never be another like you), it really is the worst Bond movie evar.
