Cool as hell? Yes.

Cooler than Bester? It's a bit early to judge that - let's see how he does. Bester was one of the best villains, ever. Is Takei going to be one of the best fathers of a superhero, ever? Could be.

Yeah, but those guys wouldn't like ANYTHING. I'm not going to name names, but they're generally hateful, cranky men who haven't enjoyed popular culture since they were in short pants.

Assuming these are mutual acquaintances that we have: not them. Other people that I know IRL. It does break down decidedly along comic-fan/non-comic-fan lines; people who don't read comics tend to like it while people who do tend to be less than enthused.

Yeah, there are a few comics fans I know who like it, but by and large, I've found my comics-reading friends range from just not into it/waiting for the first-season set to actively hating it because it's dumbed down. I myself have no real opinion; I'll give it a rent and see if I enjoy it. I didn't think I'd enjoy Veronica Mars yet here I am, waiting to order Season 2 and watch it in the space of a weekend (my fiancee and I plowed through Season One from Friday night through Sunday night.)

But hey, at least Harry Knowles loves it. :-)
