So, anyone here seen Underfunded? An American show on the USA network about a Canadian CSIS (well, the Canadian Secret Service; do we have one?) agent.

Have I officially walked through the looking glass? Does anyone know if a Canadian network will be broadcasting it?

I think they're trying to avoid stepping on the landmine perceived to be the Crown Trademark Act by not calling CSIS by its actual name.

CSIS exists. They are spooky.

I've only seen commercials for the show and it looks stupid. It seems like all they can really come up with are jokes about how they don't have any money. Like a view of the agent signing on with dial-up and saying, "I can't believe we don't have DSL!"

And this is supposed to be funny?

If the US is trying to get back at Mercer for "Talking to Americans" this is not the way to do it.

Greyhound buses? Dial-up internet connections? I don't think we're THAT underfunded. LOL. But it looks pretty funny.

I had a (civilian) friend who had to be cleared to Secret so he could move filing cabinets around at CSIS.

The Security Intelligence Service is a "secret service", although it's more MI-5 than MI-6.

But counterfeiting should be the bailiwick of the RCMP.

Appropos of nothing but the secret clearance talk... I'm the only one in my immediate family who has never gotten (or ever will, for that matter) a Top Secret clearance.

I had a friend who had to get a 'Secret' clearance because the programming company he worked for was contracted to help the computer systems for the various military branches to 'talk' to each other for War Games type exercises.
