Now, yesterday, a player whose name is being withheld to protect the innocent expressed his typical lack of sensawunda at the above figure. A Bith, he exclaimed?! In a long coat, double gunning it? Surely you can't be serious!

I am deadly serious, I replied. And don't call me Shirley.

First off, the sculpt is sublime. Probably impossible in lead or pewter, it works in plastic because it can support the weight (viz the Punisher fig from Ultimates).

So, I think it's cool, and he... does not.

I had a friend who did all kinds of double-shuriken-pistol sculpts with his Warhammer Striking Scorpions.

I have always liked when they shake things up in Star Wars. Breaking the stereotypes. In the movies, the Bith are nothing but poorly ventalated costumes wearing space flute playing band members.

This shows that the appearance of a race in the movie doesnt define their entire culture.

One of my favourite SW characters to play in the RPG was a Gungan Jedi. He was seriously cool (and not annoying like JarJar, though I did speak his lines like a gungan)

I cannot be overly impressed. Thanks to my startling trepidation at painting minis, I steadfastly monitor myself for increased sensawunda levels when viewing minis. All excitement and feelings of coolness must be mercilessly squashed lest I decided to indulge my collector neuroses yet again.

We just collect; they're awesome little figures and arse-cheap for army building. Fox "destroys their collectibility" [but improves their displayability in dioramas] by removing them from their bases and mounting them on clear plastic cut from clamshells from larger figs. We've got a crapton of the vehicles, too; they're alllllmost the right scale for display with some of the MicroMachines vehicles.
