I don't know if anyone noticed, but if you take a close look at the LJ user icon (for example, at [livejournal.com profile] thebitterguy, you'll notice it looks like the icon has a flock of seagulls haircut.

Well, if you look closer, it's... An eyepatch.

Happy talk like a pirate day, eh?

And if you look at the button when you post, it's "Update Captain's Log" or somesuch. And in your userinfo page, your Friends are Mateys.

It's strange, I see everyone talking about the usericon changing, and yet to me it looks exactly the same.

Not the icon, as in your picture, but the little 'dude' next to your name. If you're looking at it, I'd suggest getting your glasses changed. With my eyes, I can see it, so....

Maybe next year they'll change the icon for communities to a little ship.

Well, yes, I know. It'd take a hell of a complicated program to find any eyes in everyone's normal icons and replace them with eyepatches (though it probably could be done, with some room for error, but I bet it'd be far more trouble than it was worth, especially since it'd have to be done on the fly). But the icon you mention looks exactly as it always has, and I don't need glasses. Well, I probably do, technically, but I don't need them to see the kind of change that this would be. I suspect my network is just stuck on a old, unupdated cache of it (since it's affecting both my computers, and I've been told it caches frequently used pictures and such for the whole network).

's funny, caching of images in the browser has always been something specific to the individual browser and the settings for said browser. At least in my experiences.

You're right, it's not, but thanks for satisfying my curiosity anyway. :)
