Feh.

Okay, quick update. Cynra & I went to see Spamalot. Now, I've got oodles of shit hanging over my head (Damocles? Pussy), so I guess I wasn't quite in the mood to drop $90 on a retread of some of the old Python material. The staging was also faulty, since they never quite realized that when something fascinating shows up, it's really better for people to see it instead of King Arthur's back.

And why was the guy who played Arthur so fat? Jesus.

Anyway, a high priced shot of liquor later (cheers to the fuckin' bastards who set prices at the bar. $6 for an ounce of run, a slice of lemon, some icecubes and half a lukewarm Pepsi?), I got lubricated enough to enjoy it. The cougar in front of me in the liquor line had obviously been back a few times.

Before the show was even more entertainment. We stopped off at [livejournal.com profile] papajoemambo's comics venue to get me caught up to date (six weeks of no comics, as evidenced by six issues of 52). Man, ya just gotta feel for Ralph Dibney. I also got Y: the Last Man trades # 6 & 7. I think I'm caught up, which is annoying as now I must wait like everyone else. I'm contemplating taking up Young Avengers or Runaways.

In other news, Cynra finally read Y. I had to basically thrust the first TPB into her hands before bed one night and tell her "Just read the first issue. If you don't like it, I'll never bother you again."

Needless to say, she was pestering me to get 6 & 7.

Civil War seems to be suffering from a slight diffusion of interest on my part. I also don't know who is on which side. When did Hercules get involved? Or Thor for that matter?

The X-Men mini is fairly non-impressive. Shatterstar & Domino? Welcome back to crapville!

Dinner was held at Fran's afore the play, where I got to enjoy the spectacle of two crackheads beating the crap out of each other. Definitely didn't put me in the mood for recycled musical theatre (which I normally enjoy quite a bit).

In spite of my rapidfire digestion of Blasphemies last weekend, I still haven't been able to make it through WtF.

I tells ya. Predators and Blood of the Wolf are what made WtF sing for me. Between those two books I wanted to play Werewolf. Add in Lore of the Forsaken and it's basically a complete game... and although I get the feeling Territories is as much a "missing part of the core book" as Predators was, it just looks too dry not to work around.

Have you checked out the Mage book "Secrets of the Ruined Temple"?

Every sentence in Predators has a corresponding sentence in the W:tF core that it improves!

Blood of the Wolf just sort of explains Werewolves for real for the first time in nWoD. It's mostly of interest to me 'cause of the physiology stuff -- this is because I am a nerd, but also it gives you cool family stuff for wolf-blooded.

I'm not surprised that Spamalot was disappointing. Was The Lady of the Lake funny? I thought the explanation in the film was funny, but I never thought we needed to see it. Similarly, I never found myself wondering what the "I'm not dead!" guy's name was. Knowing that he is Fred makes it less funny.

And David Hyde Pierce will always be Niles. It is impossible for him to be acting and not be Niles. When he played Abe Sapien, he was Niles. When he played Sideshow Bob's brother, he was Niles. He is Niles and will forever be Niles!

Quest for the Holy Grail got so popular and over-quoted that it stopped being fun. Thankfully, Life of Brian (their finest work) has gone completely unnoticed. If Eric Idle utters one word about touching that perfect film, I will have to destroy him.

So, you read BoingBoing. Did you watch the Amazing Screw-On Head (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=search_videos&search_sort=relevance&search_query=screw-on+head&search=Search) pilot?

How Herc got involved in Civil War wasn't explained, but he was there in issue 2, and got a bizarre cover ID (data entry guy?) at the start of #3. Thor appeared at the end of the same issue. I'm guessing it's explained in #4 (especially seeing as he was dead and all...).

Dude, don't give me reasons to want to go see the show. XD
