Okay, after doing some surfing, I found this old review of O Brother, Where Art Thou? by Owen Gleiberman from EW.

Now, I know it's possible for a movie critic to be wrong. But THIS wrong? Giving that particular movie, which I know everyone I know who's seen it has enjoyed (even the southerners). So: What, then, is Owen Gleiberman's major malfunction?

This is clearly a man who has never come into contact with The Odyssey.

Critics often rip new Coen brothers movies as they appear, and then retroactively praise them as they gradually cement their status as cult classics. Nearly every Kubrick film got the same treatment.

It IS entirely possible for someone to be sane AND wrong, but THIS guy is pathological.

Yes, they do. Raising Arizona got savaged, yet now it's a quirky classic.

Though I'm neither a film critic nor am I referring to the movie in question, I had a real hard time with The Big Lebowski the first time I watched it. I don't know what clicked the second time, or even what compelled me to rewatch a movie I'd panned, I suddenly felt its absurdity sink in and fell in love.

And I'm not sure I've watched Fargo enough times to like it.

I don't know how true this is, but I've heard from more than one person that Gleiberman, for no particular reason, is almost psychotically jealous of the Coens.

I like the Tori Amos reference BTW.
