Oh, God

Oh, God, Why?!

Wings on DVD? They've hit the bottom of the barrel and just kept digging. I mean, there are many mediocre sit coms on tv right now that you can watch that are slightly more timely. And if you desperately need an episode of Wings, it'll be on TV shortly.

What's next? The Facts of Life on DVD?

Yeah, that's rich.

What? Can't I be wrong for once?

Oh, Man. Diff'rent Strokes, too. I wonder of Gary Coleman at least got a few bucks to do a commentary.

Surely there are some good tv shows that need DVD releases?

The answer to your question is: "Why not?"

Or possibly, "Because they can."

You're still waiting for the Dungeons & Dragons animated Saturday morning cartoon series, right?

Seriously, I'd like to get the 80s show Tales of Gold Monkey on DVD.

The Dungeons & Dragons series is coming out shortly, according to MArk Evanier, who wrote more than a few epsidoes.

But, gosh, you're right. Why in the world would they release shows that, in their day, ran at the top of the ratings for season after season?

I had to get a bootleg of Tales of the Gold Monkey for a friend of mine.

I notice that someone does sell bootleg versions of this on Flea-Bay, too.

I don't care if they put My Mother the Car on DVD (wait, have they?), as long as I get my Adventures of Brisco County Jr. this summer.

That's all that matters.

And still no Addams Family. At least, last time I checked...

Yes, there are:

WKRP in Cincinnati. Of course, the music rights issues are likely to keep that languishing forever, but still. I'd so buy it.

I'd much rather watch Wings than many of the mediocre sitcoms that are on today, timeliness or not. Hell, I regularly watch Are You Being Served? (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068040/) on my local PBS station, and that's not remotely "timely". But, then, I enjoyed Wings and watched it when it aired. Up with Cheers, M*A*S*H*, Night Court it's one of the few American Sitcoms that I can say that I really enjoyed (Everyone Hates Chris and My Name is Earl are on their way to making that list if they continue strongly.)

Don't worry, Family Matters will be out soon enough! Oh wait...

Well, I'll be honest, I'm not the average American sitcom viewer; my taste in comedy tends to be different enough that most sitcoms are just anathema.

Yeah, but the entire (?) run of Are You Being Served? is available as a boxed set, like $125.00, too. If only I had $125 to blow. ;)

I enjoyed Wings b/c it was frivolous, silly and quirky. The characters were all fun, though Lowell and (Tony Shaloub's character, the taxi driver) stole the show for me.

I'll give you reasons. Wings - Tony Shaloub. The Facts of Life - George Clooney. Different Strokes - wait, I got nothing.

I'd like Young Indy. And Addams Family.

And Cool Money, the Marsters film shot in Toronto, never shown in Canada, and released in England but not North America. What's up with that?

And yet, they still have not released Pinky and the Brain on DVD. Fools.

And where's Automan? Man I loved that show as a kid.

Voltron really needs to be available to the masses.

I am very fond of Tony Shalhoub. There's something about his delivery. Maybe it's his vocal timing.

Monk is one of the very, very few shows on TV that I consider worth actually watching. Like you, I would watch it regularly if it actually had soemthing like a regular rotation. I just don't watch enough TV to actually keep track of that show when it's jumping around like a whack-a-mole.

Automan was a TV knock-off of Tron, with a car instead of a motorcycle and Frisbee. He had a companion named Cursor that could draw itself into pretty much anything. Helicopter, etc. I'm sure it would be horrible to see now, but I thought it's 13 episode run was great stuff back then. It looks like you can get that on DVD, now that I'm looking.

I never claimed it wasn't.

But it sucks that things filmed in Toronto have been released other places than here (Queer as Folk season 5, I'm looking at you)

Slings and Arrows season one comes out tomorrow :)

Cupid, compete series (Jeremy Piven, Paula Marshall)
Frank's Place, complete series (Tim and Daphne Reid)
Now and Again, complete series (Eric Close, Denis Haysbert, Margaret Colin, Heather Matarazzo)
Spy Game, complete series
South Beach, complete series (Yancy Butler, John Glover)

These are the shows I have killed with my interest in them. Here's a bonus show:

Hamish Macbeth (Robert Carlyle) -- BBC Video seems to be releasing this, but veeerrrry slooooowwly (season 1 available except for the "pirate radio" episode because of music rights, no release date for seasons 2 and 3).
