Man, that PVR is like manna from heaven. First off, I get to actually have the option to watch Survivor, which is good. And CSI, which can be good. And FF through commercials, which is good until it gets stuck.

Unfortunately, I also end up with two weeks of old Daily Show & Colbert Report's to watch. It's like a chore. Plus side, Colbert did a huge D&D reference while he was interviewing a poker champ last month.

Now, then: This week's Lost .

Damn, that was good. [livejournal.com profile] waiwode has a theory about how it's all indicative of the balance of power being disrupted by the arrival of the tailies.

I think it's just indicative of how Sawyer is a manipulative, selfish jerk. Charlie was a huge twist, though. How he's fallen.

Admittedly, I wonder why none of the discussion has seemed to mention any manipulation on the island's part. Has that been discarded as a theory?

Charlie's disenchantment with the man group was caused by A) the amgibuity of his relationship with the smack (was he or wasn't he using? Why was he carrying it around?) and B) his very, VERY freaky visions that caused him to, in the eyes of the other characters, threaten the life of Aaron.

The new Survivor is getting interesting. The four tribes thing got discarded PDQ, and went back to one tribe vs one tribe. The challenges were good, and I like the use of Exile Island. It's not proving to be a good place. We didn't see much of Bruce while he was there, so it's entirely possible he DID turn up the thingy. Just an interesting show this year. Better than the last. And new Amazing Race soon. That'll be cool. Travelling around the world!

And then, there was CSI.

Man, that was just a BAD episode. It required that both the villain (and he was a bad supervillain, not a crook or killer or anything) be completely stupid ("Oh, she seems to be gnawing on her arm! Well, she won't be able to get through!"), and Lady Heather has to forget the concept of delayed gratification to allow Grissom to be the hero. Because, well, after she manages to subdue this guy, while losing her most distinctive piece of jewelry (I thought the cameraman just liked her tits, but it was... FORESHADOWING!), she decides not to take him back someplace safe, but just pull over and start floggin' him on the side of the road.

Ohhhhkay. Very dissapointing. They definitely had the gore budget topped up for this episode, though. Vitreo-licious!

Yeah, PVR is most awesome. I hardly ever watch live tv any more. Even when I do, I pause, let about 15-20 minutes go by while i do something else, and then start it; that way I can FF through lots of commercials.

What PVR are you using? Are you recording to HD or to DVD?

Lost:
Yeah, I liked Sawyer returning to the Dark Side, and taking Charlie with him. They are BOTH such more palatable characters when we are *supposed* to hate them and think they are self-centered asses.

Survivor:
Don't watch and don't care :) But Amazing Race? Yee-freaking-haw baby. Can't wait. Have you seen the previews? "Eleven Teams [pause] of TWO". Heh. I think the 4-player format really WAS reviled :) And how about the two hotties? I hope they aren't totally annoying so I can root for them to last (like last season's Bransen girls :))

CSI:
I agree, a fairly bad episode, but Lady Heather is one of my all-time favorite guest stars and now that she's a star over on the O.C., I didn't think we'd see her back so her apperance was a very pleasent surprise. But yes, I didn't like what they had her do this ep. They'd handled everything regarding her profesion so well, the sensualistic ending was very disappointing.
