Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but it ain't pretty. Cynra & I picked up Supercar this morning. The damage (what a terribly appropriate term that is) came to exactly $14 less than my insucance company's oh so generous deductible.

This would have been worse, of course, if not for the fact that as a gift Mater & Pater had sent me a generous birthday cheque, which covered 2/3 of the bill.

Still, it's a pisser. That would have got a lot of comic books and Universe boosters. Maybe even one or two without AT-STs.

Still, if that tale of woe does bring sadness to your heart, remember I have fully stocked Amazon and Chapters wish lists!

To celebrate my natal day, Cynra & I did a nice quiet night out. Dinner was at the local Jack Astor's; well, local as in the same area code. I don't know what, exactly, has changed in the restaurant, but it's something. We had a super-cool waiter by the name of Pat, which was a good change from the normal. YHB got the Jambalya, and Cynra got the stir fry; the plating was nice on her dish, as it came in a small metal wok.

The Jambalya was tasty, but I was reminded of my ongoing necrotization when the addition of a splash of tabasco sauce turned my GI system (gastro-intestinal, not the system that helps me play [livejournal.com profile] mr_weasel's D&D game) rebelled on me on the way home.

In the interim, Cynra & I enjoyed (yes, enjoyed) a showing of Underworld: Evolution. The sole reason we went was that Uday had gifted me at Christmas with a coupon packet that included a free birthday movie. So we used that and a standard free admission to check out U:E. Now, I have no idea why it was called "Evolution", as the characters all seemed pretty static from the last film. As sequels go, it was at least consistent with the original. Or at least it seemed to be. I should really go back and re-watch the original. Cynra did NOT snap any of my limbs by attempting to hid behind my sweater while I was still wearing it, so yay for that. I'm glad she's developed a sense of gentleness, even if she does jump every time a character walks in from off screen suddenly.

One moment of "hey, I know that guy" was my recognizing the actor who played Victor (Bill Nighy) as the guy who played Slartibartifast in HHG2TG. In fact, the moment was made even sweeter by Cynra not knowing what I was talking about. PWNED!

So, yeah, we got home to find that Lost had not, in fact, been recorded by our PVR, causing a small amount of consternation, quicly corrected by the application of time-shifting, which is like magic.

And now, onto the next year. Huzzah!

Well, the earth stopping moving would result in the death of all life on earth, so, really, it's just death, period.

A belated Happy Birthy to you!

I should really go back and re-watch the original.

It's worth re-watching? I confess I'm somewhat surprised. I'm not sure where my impression that it sucked comes from, but it was a fairly strong impression.

I read these two together. I wish I hadn't. I started thinking you wanted to watch BitterGuy's original birth.
