Wasn't it the 2004 election where the Post was saying to hold your nose and vote Conservative?
How much faith can we have in parties each of whom is trying to characterise themselves as "regrettable but necessary"? Even the NDP are trying this tack.
I miss the chaotic elections of my youth characterised by yogic flyers of the Natural Law Party and the thrilling concept of Prime Minister Doug Henning. Are they still around.
The National Post is a foul paper. I'm sure an analysis of their endorsement record would find favour for the Conservatives and Reform being a contant.
I'm not, however, going to pretend for a minute that a horde of Calgary Cabal Reformists wearing the sking of the old PC party like the hat out of a Christmas Cracker is in any way palpable. I'd just prefer a Liberal party that wasn't wandering around trying to pretend it wasn't holding its guts in with its left hand.
Henning maintained this philosophy when he was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2000, and he chose to treat the disease with only transcendental meditation. He died within five weeks at the age of 52.
If only he'd tried to use Scientology! Or possibly Intelligent Design!
Sometimes living in a riding where the re-election of the MP is a foregone conclusion is nice. If anything, you live in a stinky riding where principles go out the window. Garry Carr - yeesh (remembering he was a Harris Conservative makes me want to retch). Garth Turner is one of the few (I think about 308) that make Garry Carr palpable.
