That time of year again
Jan. 8th, 2006 05:23 pmWell, Pandemonium has its website up. As usual, it looks like it was put together by someone using babelfish and a bad spellchecker.
This year, they do have an overenthusiastic webmaster, though. Lots of graphics n' stuff.
If it looks good, I'll go. But I'm just not enthusiastic for con gaming anymore. Anyone else up for it?

Date: 2006-01-08 11:05 pm (UTC)Losing horribly at the WH40k tournament.
Man, anyone who thinks furry cons smell bad has never seen a gaming con up close.

Date: 2006-01-08 11:20 pm (UTC)I'll probably attend for the Shadowfist stuff; I haven't attended a single Ranked event since I registered, so I oughtta. Other than that, I just don't know.
"Year of the Maiden"? Good grief. The site has some eye-candy, but it runs like a dog.

Date: 2006-01-08 11:39 pm (UTC)I'd love to go. Of course, it being the weekend of my 40th Birthday makes that a little unlikely.

Date: 2006-01-08 11:41 pm (UTC)I've gone to a couple Pandas, but they tend to be dissapointing. I miss Redcon.

Date: 2006-01-09 12:44 am (UTC)I remember some of the good Panda auctions, too, when it was run by Wally and Doug from the The General Staff as auctioneers, and 'way before Ebay nicked all the good stuff. I picked up a very good copy of "Empire of the Petal Throne" for $30 in 1991, for starters.
Some good con RPG sessions...and some stinkers, too.
-->A very good TORG game where I got to play a two-fisted pulp hero. I had fun doing such antics as jumping onto the hood a speeding roadster driven by the bad guy, then punching my fist through the windscreen to wrest control of the wheel, all the while dodging bullets by the mewling mook, forcing the car to crash while I simultaneously leapt aside to safety.
-->A very bad Shadowrun game where the GM allowed the other players (his friends in his real world game) to waste almost an hour of a 3-hour game while their PCs shopped for weapons half way through. I walked out of that game.

Date: 2006-01-09 05:01 pm (UTC)A lot of SR games turn into a mid game shopping spree; I think a good GM should know that that's the wrong thing to put into a convention game; if necessary, have the required goods ready beforehand or something. A similar thing happened at a Champions game
