Okay, thoughts upon last night's lost.

Tail survivors were SERIOUSLY disadvantaged compared to the main castaways.

Look at it this way: The tail section (another messed up thing for the show: the plane just kind of fell apart in midair into three pieces that all stayed intact on the way down. That's messed up!) landed in the water. It sank. So, they had no fuselage to pillage for parts. No carts of food to survive off. And no guy with hunting or fishing knowledge. No luggage to get new clothes from. No surgeon, just a therapist with a year of med school. No magic briefcase full of guns.

Then, they were almost immediately attacked by the Others out of the jungle.

At this time, I wish (It's a near constant wish, actually) I could convince the wife to get a PVR so I could just watch the show over and absorb all the little details. I wonder, then, why Ethan seemed to be along in his suveillance, infiltration and abduction mission. One possibility is that the security system is after the Others, but only covers the Castaways half of the island.

Does the Black Rock's location signify anything in all this? The subterranean section that Locke was being pulled down to was near the Black Rock, so it stands to reason it's distant from the Dharma Foundation's sites, if they're all (or at least, so have so far been) near the shore*. The Black Rock was a decent distance from the hatch to Swan.

Nothing new on the DF's bunker the Tailaways found. Abandoned as all get out. Did the Orientation film include info on the countdown/ keyboard, or was that all provided by Desmond?

The MO of the others is strange. Previously, they've only been interested in the children: first, Aaron in vitro; then Walt when Michael tried to get him off the island. Now, they didn't show any interest in Walt until after he was off the island. Whether he was simply judged too potent to get, and they just didn't want him to get away, or some other reason, but they attempted to get Aaron (or possibly just Claire) while they were on the island, and Walt they left alone.

For the tail-aways, they first (IIRC) abducted the strongest of the men, then they came for the "good" people, which apparently included the kids. So when Eko and Michael were in the jungle, we saw one of the Others had the teddy bear with them, so we can assume that was the boy. The fact that the Others we saw were all adults puts to rest the theory that they're all children (Ethan should have done so, really).

Once again, Canadian gets killed by evil person.

Island is crowded. Others; Danielle; security system/LostZilla ; Dharma installations (including Shark Facility, or remains of? Polar Bear facility, or remains of, unless Polar Bears were result of Walt); Tailaways; Castaways.

*I presume Arrow was reasonably close to the shore, since I assume the Tailaways didn't want to go too deep into the jungle and were close enough to come clam hunting, and Swan is close (apparently within minutes walk) to the caves, which is reasonably close to the shore.

Hmmm. None of this is terribly coherent. Ah, well. It's still better than watching Stargate.
