Why do I want Suet?

WalMart flyer advertising 3-Pack Suet for 3.93. Brain goes "Hey, that would be a good buy!" Working part of brain goes "we don't have any birds, our only bird feeder is a hummingbird feeder that uses liquid, and we don't know if that would really be a good price for Suet anyway." Brain then goes "I like cheese."

Stupid brain.

Last night was birthday for mr_weasel. Because he, in a fit of Space Madness, travelled to Montreal on teh spur of the moment on Wednesday (Thursday?) I was curious as to whether or not he'd actually be HERE for his birthday party. Especially when he called at noon to say he and his common law wife were leaving Montreal. Okay, now, ninny mapping programs aside, that's a five or so hour drive on a GOOD day. Suppose, then, some semi driver hopped up on goofballs overturned his tanker on the Four Ought One 85 feet in front of them. You know what woulda happened? They'd have been grateful mr_weasel brings books to read, because they wouldna been driving.

Not to have worried, as the peeps in attedance (atomiks, kinra, spezbaby, the former LJer mindrobber as well as the charming and lovely senexmacdonald would have compensated finely even if we were robbed of mr_weasel's soccer holligan-esque behaviour.

He did eventually arrive. Comics, TV & Movies were discussed (although I don't think I got to hand out any of the Serenity keychains I had in my pocket). It was agreed that Arrested Development & Kitchen Confidential is the best hour of comedy on TV today. Lost rocks, so the hatahs can just zip it. Zip!

Got him an A&A starter. His rare? An Italian Tank. You will note the paucity of great Italian tank battles in the histories, eh?. Please note: This is an opportunity to link to Wikipedia for every Italian tank battle! Go, quickly! Go! Now!

Upon looking at the figures, I noticed that the font on them is very small. Very, VERY small. We're talking magnifying glass small. Microscope small. Especially when you consider that there are German units in here, with 800 letter names like Sonderpanzerfeuruberreichsgunterschnitzeleinszweidreikommando. The font can only be read from the other side, using lasers, a 2 karat diamond and a highly trained dolphin.

Apparently there are Japanese & Russian figures in the game, so it is not based primarily around the Western front. My new gaming store charges more than the in town stores. They are hence evil.

I had a back (Or for you yanks in the crowd, "Canadian") bacon & Cheddar sandwich. Very tasty, although the bread appeared to be squished by a thumbprint (stupid bread cutters). Parking only cost $1.05, so that was nice.

Is Kitchen Confidential still on? I heard rumours as to its demise, but it's hard to tell on Fox with all the stupid sports pre-emting everything.

Oh, suet? Good idea in your backyard. It will lure the birds -- and possibly squirrels, be advised. You can get a cage on a chain that holds the suet bricks, hang that from a bird feeder or tree or something.

Actually I believe, based on Enemy at the Gates and other, y'know, reliable sources, the Russians would use their precious machine guns behind the lines to shoot the soldiers retreating - I guess you just shoot the first one who backs off.

Also, the Italians made some great tanks in the late '30s! Just not so much in the '40s.

I watch it on one of the Atlantic channels at 7:30 on Tuesdays. It's on NBC and 11 (whatever 11 is calling itself these days) at 9pm (against Supernatural - which you might not watch because Jensen Ackles' hottness is the only thing going for it, and I assume that's not an incentive for you).

I'm "watching" Supernatural (in that I have been in the room while it was on for at least 15 minutes) solely because it's a modern horror game (show! I mean show!) and I'm still in mourning for Freakylinks.

They were Canadian, Brit, and American tanks scattering German tanks before them on the push north. The Italians had already surrendered.

For instance, Operation Olive, or the push through the Gothic Line by the British 8th Army (II Polish Corps, I Canadian Corps, and V British Corps) between August and September of 1944 cost both sides about 14,000 casualties each (at about a 1 dead for every 5 to 6 wounded) and about 90 of around 250 German and about 250 of 1,500 Allied vehicles were destroyed.
