Look, I'm pretty easy-going. I can handle a lot. I cut slack by the yard.
But...
We like the Firkin pubs. The Squire & Firkin, which was across the road from the first long term job I'd held, was one of our favourites.
Tonight, that changed.
Half an hour? For a dozen wings? Bad. Annoying, at least.
Not getting to make our meal order until after the wings show up? Not terribly impressive.
Having to get up and get my own cutlery? Oh, come ON. I'm no whiny little effete yankee tourist type ("Waitress, this ice is too cold"), but come on. I want my fucking cutlery.
I don't care how busy it is. I don't care if there's only one person on duty. A fucking knife and fork is NOT a small thing. You don't go 'oops, how'd I miss that?' I'm not gonna eat my fucking mashed potatoes with my fingers.
Oh, yeah. And about the mashed potatoes: If I ask for a substitution, don't forget it. And, when you DO forget it and I have to send the food back, ask me if I want something on it.
Jesus.
Anyway, that's why we're not going back.
