A week at the Mooooovies
Jul. 24th, 2005 11:04 pmFantastic Four: If they hadn't fucked up Doom so very, very much (very much; he was wrong from top to toes) it would have been as good an adaptation as Spider-Man 2. As it was, it was enjoyable. I wonder if it's possible to do a superhero film that isn't an action flick?
Charlie & the Chocolate Factory:I liked it. Good show, good effects, I want to pick up the soundtrack to have Dahl lyrics with Elfman music. Once again, Tim Burton needs therapy about his dad. When Charlie openned his Birthday bar, only to find no ticket, I moaned out "oh, Crap!" in dissapointment. The kids in the theatre found it funny. And it had Helena Bonham Carter in a domestic role, which is just hot.
As for the Michael Jackson similarities, remember: Jackson is accused of liking kids TOO much. Willy Wonka hates them.
Oh, damn. I want chocolate now.
Harold & Kumar go to White Castle:I love stoner comedies. The only people I know who use marijuana are very boring (with the exception of
mr_weasel) compared to these wonderful movie people who are happy when they're high. This tale of two guys who journy cross-Jersey seeking White Castle burgers (I guess they taste good in that state) is sublime. Even the pustulent boils of their born again swinger tow truck driver don't go too far. And the jewish stoner flatmates are also funny.
Although you do have to wonder how long the website will be kept up. As long as the DVD sells, I figure.
