Sometimes, you know, people, they just don't get... The Joke. And when they don't get... The Joke, it's kinda sad. Sad, yes. Like the crying puppy. Or a crying clown.
Nothing's sadder than a crying clown. But Doctor, he said, I AM Pagliacci! {sob}
Gardening was completed (for now; I'm sure flower beds will be done shortly, and there's always room for more veggies). I may have to mow again tomorrow. Eh.
Anyway, d20 Future today. In game were the lovely and talented
mr_weasel,
noondaypaisley,
terminal_paraih, and
kinra. We also talked about d02 a lot.
Fun was had by all, even if YHB was rather uncertain about certain details about the game. "Who, exactly, has the artifact again?" [flip.flip.flip]. Oh, yes, he does."
There are also issues regarding the adventure we used, Blue Devil Games' Dawning Star sample adventure. I also think giving a character who will be, at best, under significant amounts of stress Perform (Stand up) at plus five is interesting. Perhaps if the notes had mentioned he was a wise-cracker or something I could have played that.
It was less railroady than the adventure from the original d20 Star Wars game, since the PCs were placed onto a small locale that quickly became inescapable and were then given liberty to wander about, seeking adventure.
The text blocks were interesting, although you really need to wonder at the emphasis placed onto the rooms' decor over the fact a large man is eating soup out of a bowl with a shotgun next to him. That got a giggle. In fact, I had a tough time keeping a straight face after a few rooms in when it happened in EVERY ROOM.
There were also some grammatical and editing issues that I just didn't notice until I was reading it out loud. I should read all supplements out loud when I'm reviewing them. It will allow me to catch things.
Dawning Star is a neat setting, though. Like it very much. Good SF setting with lots of nice crunch and game possibilities.
