Because
granolademonic put a gun to my head...
Mar. 18th, 2005 03:42 pm1. Total amount of music files on your computer?
1067 files. Primarily ripped from my own discs, but I'll admit I've taken advantage of my native born freedom to exchange data with my countrymen.
2. The last CD you bought was...
After the great Raid on
pyat's car, I had to replace some music, so I got the boxed set of Love, God & Murder by Johnny Cash. Amazon.ca, while fairly random, did get it to me on time. I love Cash, and his American recordings are great to listen to.
3. What was the last song you listened to before reading this message?
Bastille Day, by Rush.
4. Write down five songs you often listen to or mean a lot to you.
a. Bastille Day, by Rush. Seriously, It just makes my spinal column vibrate, in as much as a song about politically motivated murder can be.
b. The Mary Ellen Carter (Rise Again!), by Stan Rogers. Amusingly enough, it's the least depressing song on the Between the Breaks CD, and it's something that just makes you want to get back up after you get kicked in the face, which happens surprisingly regularly in some cases, at least metaphorically.
c. The Wall, by Johnny Cash. A convict tells of a prison break that succeeded, even though it failed. It's a warning of what happens when a man gets broken, and what a broken man can do.
d. Baby got Back, by Sir Mix-A-Lot. Because ocasionally you need to hear a song where no one dies. I once read an article about Karaoke that included five songs you sould NEVER do at Karaoke, and outlined why. You know what I said? Fuck that, bitches. And I learned it. And I do it well. A video file on the web can prove that.
e. The Night that Pat Murphy Died, by Great Big Sea. It's a jolly drinking song about a friend's wake. I just hope that if I ever die, you all have this much fun.
5. What new music are you really excited for in the coming year so far?
New music is coming out? I don't get too much, really. If someone I know has something new, I might get it.
6. What 5 people are you going to pass this baton to and why?
mr_weasel, so he can tell us about Euro-electronica, which he enjoys.
iamnikchick, because I am curious as to what she will say.
brand_of_amber, because he is a visitor to this land, and has much to share with us.
artbroken, because he is a rock dj.
gurudata, because he still has a condo in the '80s.
