hearing joss describe for the first time in public how he would have brought the character of tara back to buffy if he could have. the set up was this: in the middle of season 7, for some reason buffy is given the power to grant one wish to herself. she can do anything she wants, and the episode is about her struggle with this. she can make angel human, bring her mother back, kill the first evil, anything at all. in the wnd she comes home and shows willow a fabulous new pair of shoes she has bought. she is beyond thrilled about them, and willow's comment is something like "you could have had anything you wanted, and you spent your wish on a pair of shoes?" buffy replies, "of course not, silly", and leaves the room. willow turns around to find tara standing in the doorway.
Okay, that's just... WRONG.
For SO many reasons.
First off, resurrection in the Buffyverse? Doesn't work. Fucks you UP. Mom came back as a George Romero extra, Buffy ends up a basket case who'll sleep with a blood sucking undead (okay, not THAT significant a character shift).
Secondly: Okay, Joss, did you WATCH season 7? Remember that season? Where Buffy turns into the UberGruppenSlayer? Where she'd sacrifice anyone to stop the first? So suddenly, for one episode, so we can have huggy fan service for Tara fans (which may have been self-preservation on WHedon's part as much as anything else) Buffy becomes, uh, stupid?
No. It makes no sense. NONE of it. I call Bullshit, Joss.
