Writer's Block: Tricky Questions

I realized that I didn't really answer this too well the first time I posted it.
As I posited in
papajoemambo's lj, this is a power thing.
If someone who has power over you says it, either socially, at work, or anywhere else, then you assume there's either a new responsibility to be offered or you're about to be punished for something.
If you're a person with responsibilities, and someone who is subordinate to you says it, you know they've come to ask you for something.
Being powerless, if anyone says something to me, I kinda freak.
