Anniversaries come and go

Every year, at this time, I like to take you, my adoring associates, back in time to one of my more interesting experiences. This being my short sojourn as a naval reservist.

I think it's a good story. Better when it's told live and with mother liquor in the room, but, Christ, some of you people live in Texas or Australia or Kitchener or other far off places.

So, yes. Go, read the story. It is beautiful.

In better news, the shipment mr_weasel, waiwode and myself ordered from Fantasy Flight came in a week or so ago. We ordered some stuff for their Memorial Day sale, and it was quite nice.

I got Nocturnum, the CoC d20 campaign they created (with, along with my copy of the CoC d20 core rules, and the CoC d20 GM screen waiwode snagged for me at Origins, means I have everything for the game! I win!), which is quite nice. After reading it, mr_weasel convinced me to run it. So that should be fun.

I also got the Seafarer's Handbook. Obviously an early d20 supplement; it doesn't even have the back page boilerplate. The copywrite date is 2001, which could mean early in the year. Anyone who worked on this wanna comment?

I also picked up a bundle of Horizon books which are, omigosh!, SUPER AWESOME. Grimm is neat (although I'd like to see more GM advice, because the five level PC classes seem kinda brief), Spell Slinger is awesome (it's a Fantasy Western! With added Awesome!) but Virtual? Virtual didn't snag me until I got to read it a bit closer, and then it hit me.

Virtual is TRON. TRON THE ROLE-PLAYING GAME! That, kids, is awesome. Beyond awesome. It's fuckin' AIRWOLF.

So, now, I gotta get a copy of Mecha-Morphosis.
