Halo Day yesterday. Very much enjoyable.

Morning was spent in packing and prep for the big move. Two weeks. Man, it's just getting closer every day, isn't it (and, once again, yes, I'm aware any date will get closer every day. Leave my sentimental feelings be)?

We picked up a dozen Rubbermaid Roughneck 53 Litre totes. [livejournal.com profile] mr_weasel lent us a bunch, but we realized that they're perfect for storing stuff in the crawlspace, so we got some for that purpose.

After that, I headed down to pick up Chris (aka Chicken Ball Thief) who was bringing the second TV and Xbox. Nice neighbourhood he lives in, actually. He's got a walkdown apartment inside a small house for the environment. His neighbours to the west have a house big enough to hold at least 500 people. All cubic n' shit.

Anyway, we got back to Casa Mohareb in time to find that [livejournal.com profile] adamjury and [livejournal.com profile] whisper_jeff had arrived, and computer Ghod Charles arrived shortly afterwards. The box got setup fairly quickly, and away we went.

The day was a bit odd, as it were. Lukasz, from my work, was going to be coming by with his friend, since his brother was working. What ended up happening was that his friend couldn't make it, so he picked up his brother, they went to dinner at a pre-wedding event for another friend, and they came by at about 8. Uday came by, but only for a visit/dinner.

The games over the course of the day were a mix of various types. On Blood Gulch, we played Rally, a CTF game and an Invasion game. We played a few Rocket Launcher games on Battle Creek (how I love that map. How I love that game), and used the scenario editor to some amusing effect. Fifty kills on a non team game is too much.

A few King of the Hill games (YHB managed to claim victory in at least one) and some standard Slayer games were also enjoyed.

The BBQ portion of the evening went interestingly. I think the initial flamation was done too hastily to allow the coals to properly absorb the lighter fluid, so the coals didn't catch. Plus, the lump charcoal burns differently from brick, so that was slightly confusing.

We did all enjoy gathering around the Q as the flames rose.

Lessons learned? Let no one interfere with the flames. You can't have too many bags of Tostitos (although some variety might have helped). Very few guys drink a lot at Halo games. Two souvlaki skewers per fella are good. Three might be better. Five veggie skewers are good for seven people, but one per would be better.

More rice would have been better, of course. The Greek Salad found no complaints.

My thumbs are now sore. And the song listed below is pure co-incidence.
