I had a party. It was fun.
Dec. 21st, 2003 11:27 amYesterday was the first inaugural Play Halo Until We Puke party. A horde of eager Halo players descended on Casa Mohareb to launch rockets, whip pistols, and throw plasma grenades in the pursuit of a higher cause; that being, fun.
mr_weasel arrived first with his friend Charles (who will NOT be invited again, thank you; mofo shoots a bit too hard) with the spare TV. After that, more members of the event arrived until the near full compliment was here (
mr_weasel had to depart early as he had to pick up his sweetie, and our friend George and brother Uday were both no-shows).
The linking went off pretty much without a hitch, and much fun was had. We were spared the purchase of an 'official' Xbox link cable by Snra. Bitter's possession of a length of crossover cable for her comatose iMac.
This is a description of the various Halo MP settings.
Some of the battles included a pair of Capture the Flag games played on Blood Gulch & Damnation, and another pair of Rocket Launcher battles played in Battle Creek. Man, those were fun.
There were a few slayer games, and team slayer games. Team Slayer is good, but mostly because it puts people out there for you NOT to kill.
whisper_jeff has this thing about not getting shot by his team-mates.
Dinner was a large order from Hoo Lee Chow. Cantonese Dinner for four, Cantonese Dinner for Three, Szechaun Dinner for four. Of course, by the time I got to my share, I had almost missed out on the equitable chicken ball share (
rentagurkha,
nottheterritory, the blame lies with YOU!). The only item left after dinner was a spicy Singapore Rice Noodles, which I will save and eat later.
After dinner, door prizes were distributed.
adamjury and
mr_weasel ended up with the good stuff (Halo action figures), while everyone else acquired something of equal fun.
You guys might want to check out the special offer on the JRS website.
rentagurkha got the ceramic elephants, which was an act of purest bravery. There were a couple more Halo books, and a couple star wars toys, a batman action figure & a Golf Egg.
Don't ask about the Golf Egg. It's only embarrassing.
The party wound down around 11 p.m., and the guests made their exit.
Down points to the evening? Well, the coat rack in the main entranceway surpassed its stress levels and came a-crashin' down, and I forgot I'd purchased Dim Sum buns and three litres of Egg Nog. So I have those. I did win a game of Rocket Launchers. Yeah.
On the way home,
nottheterritory and Steve had a little excitement involving a pair of ruffians.
