Well, that was an interesting weekend.

As always, you can't drag local fans into Mississauga with a chain and a 4x4. The out of towners don't hear about it, of course. We really need to work on promotion.

ConThulhu was, at least for me, a rousing success. Rousing in that I had a good time, got to hang out with some cool folks, meet a baby, and the hotel gave us wine.

As you may have already read in [livejournal.com profile] pyat's journal, ConThulhu was held this past weekend at the Days Hotel in TO. Our media guest of honour couldn't make it, which saved us a lot of money. Our literary guest was Robert M. Price, our Fantasy GoH was Ed Greenwood, and gaming GoH was
Ken Hite.

The gaming room was somewhat under populated. Decipher did attend, but apparently no Lord of the RIngs players live in Toronto. Either that, or they didn't get to properly promote it.

The rectal reaming by backup's for Mage Knight was annoying. Gord, the local Buffy guy, was good, and brought in a few peeps, including an old B5 player of mine.

But, yes. Guests.

Ed Greenwood is a god. Cooler than the other side of the pillow. Mischevous, able to speak at length in an engaging and delightful fashion. Sunday he wore a shirt with a quote from As You Like It, II.3.48: "Though I look old, yet I am strong and lusty". Good Lord, that's appropriate.

[livejournal.com profile] maliszew was there, with family Friday night. The children were delightful, and twisted the dagger of our own childlessness into my heart. Jimmy, you've got a good boy there. He did panels, at least I think he did. I got to sit in approximately 2 panels.

[livejournal.com profile] eyebeams was also there Friday & Saturday. Much good fun to see him again. The Mage game did not progress as there was no interest. I blame Bill Bridges. Curse you, Bridges!

M. explained to me once again the unpleasentness of Werewolf, since it was based on such unpleasant concepts as "a chosen people" who must defend their "sacred land" from fouling by "wretched inferiors" and I said, Yeah, but if you ignore the Zionist elements, it's not that bad! (Insert campy slapstick music).

I also got to learn that he was the guy Wolfgang Droege beat half to death at the ARA/HF Brawl for it All. He's my favourite Race Traitor. The HF hates you, M.

Serdar Yegulalp came in from NY and was great. He ran a movie room like a SumvaBitch. We got to watch Versus, which is probably the best movie to watch at midnight after talking with The Captain all night.

Ken Hite rocked. A great guy, lots of fun to talk to, as full of great industry kibbitz as Ed, hadn't received his Big White Box either yet. People who didn't come to meet him? Fools. Fools and idiots. They'll drown in their own slack-jawed foolishness.

Post-con dinner was cancelled because I was sick like dog.

Really, I enjoyed myself. I think Sunnydale Central diverted way too much of our energies this year. By focusing on our core competencies, and getting the crew motivated and attendees drawn in it would be much better off for everyone.

I bleed

Just took my 'feel sick, shower at 1' shower. Shaved afterward. Got a nasty nick on the back of my head, in the divot. Felt it. Now I'll have a bloody divot in the back of my head. Greeaaat.
