Sep. 29th, 2002 06:13 pmJust finished a couple books.
Under the Mat is the biography of Diana Hart, youngest daughter of Calgary's Hart family.
And, ho boy, is she messed up. The book's flow is rather weak (it's a choppy book, but I think I may just not like the style biography ghostwriters use, which is pretty much "ask question, copy response in as chapter, sort").
But the stuff she went through... It's harrying. Stu Hart comes across as a wonderful wrestling promoter but a less than great father (here's a hint, Stu: don't have 13 kids. Get your balls wrapped at 5, and everyone will be happier).
Damn. Can't say I really respect Davey Boy Smith or Jim Neidhart no more.
Really, it reads okay. But it's a bit of a heartbreaker. No one gets out of this intact, with the possible exception of Diana herself.
The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents is a Discworld book by Terry Pratchett about The Pied Piper of Discworld. Essentially, it takes a horde of intelligent Rats, one Intelligent Cat, and a musican's guild member.
Look, I'm a Pratchett FREAK. When he's in town next year, I'm gonna stalk him.
So I love this book. Adore it. It's what I expect, and it's wonderful, creepy, and delightful. I want to buy him dinner, but a tasteful refined Burger King dinner.
Oh, yeah: have installed the Google taskbar. Life is so much easier now.
