Cobra: The Musical!
Jul. 14th, 2002 02:01 amWell, that wasn't TOO bad.
The most interesting thing about it (other than the fact that no one other than Creighton showed up; come on guys, Nic has a legitimate reason, but what about you other slackers? Geez.) was that there was a missing character. The Baronness was in the flyer, was on the website, but was conspicuously absent from the stage. I was confused.
It was amusing. The costumes seemed fairly well done, although some were conspicuous by their absence. Major Bludd's looked kind of odd, and Destro's medallion was sorely missed. The Crimson Guardsmen were good.
The sheer volume of gay sex was impressive. Here I thought I was on Bathurst, not visiting Buddies in Bad Times.
Zartan stole the show. His appearance in the finale was... Well, it was probably the most terrifying thing in the show (after Firefly's pantsless bustier sequence). I just can't handle pink thongs. But he was in more than good enough shape to pull it off, and had good stage presence. And he sweat a LOT. I've picked up a new favourite setting: "I'm sweating like a whore in church!"
My sole quibble with the show was that the guy playing Duke didn't bother to get a haircut. Duke does NOT have long hair. It's a buzz cut.
And Snake Eyes was wearing a t-shirt. Aiie.
Another highlight: we were welcomed by Crimson Guardsmen who said "Welcome to the Terrordome!" I didn't stop chuckling at that all night.
Afterwards, DC and I went to a goodbye party for a friend of his, where I was reminded I'm probably the only one of his associates without a BFA of some kind. :)
Tomorrow is breakfast at the Dundas St. Grill. Fine establishment, recommended to all.
