A shockingly busy weekend. In fact, the lead up to it was so busy I didn't get to attend Thursday game because we had to pick up meat for the BBQ. And this week, I have to miss it because of a comedy commitment. If you're reading this, Mr. GM, a million mea culpas. Next week, I promise.

Saturday was, of course, the latest in the Halo Day in Canada series. Attendance would have been down (and now, resounding Boo-Urns for [livejournal.com profile] rentagurkha, [livejournal.com profile] whisper_jeff and [livejournal.com profile] mr_weasel for all having so-called "Better things to do". We took comfort from mocking your love lives) if I hadn't wrangled a cow-orker into showing up, along with his brother & best friend. Of course, the loss of three people who actually OWN x-boxes caused us to be short three controllers.

Snra took it upon herself to trek down to EB Games (let us never speak of them again! Ptui!) to pick up a new controller. Just a cheapo MadCatz, but it filled the bill. Hmm. Or did it fit the bill? Do bills get filled, or do objects fit them? I can never remember. Friggin figures of speech.

Anyway, gaming went well. Everyone had a good time during the day. Luke and his brother and friend, after [livejournal.com profile] nottheterritory's initial trepidation ("Who are these remarkably fit indivduals in your living room?") turned out to be really good players. And Luke's friend likes B5, which is just a sign of a good human being.

The Meat (a LOT of ribs) turned out okay. Huzzah must go to the Chicken Ball Thief for his l33t BBQ skillz. In the interests of not working too hard, sides were corn off the cob and mashed potatoes.

I strong-armed the players into a never ending sequence of rocket Launcher games in Battle Creek. Okay, I kid, but we played a couple. At one point, they played Rocket Launchers on Boarding Action (oh, BTW: if you don't know what I'm talking about, it would take too long to explain). A few CTF games on Blood Gulch, and one on Sidewinder, where I learned that while you CAN hurt someone with the flat, that doesn't mean you SHOULD.

God, but eight player Rocket Launcher on Battle Creek is fun. The bodies never stop flying. Gleeful,it makes me. And because you don't get points for suicide kills, the games lasts that much longer.

Eventually, [livejournal.com profile] nottheterritory had to leave, and since he brough the guy with the tv, the night came to a crashing halt.

Which was okay, because I had eight hours on the road ahead of me.

Feh. Sunday was Novi's MCCC. Snra. & [livejournal.com profile] redeem147 got to meet some of their favourite TV & movie personalities (apparently the Lone Gunmen are no longer travelling as a unit). The main event was, of course, Ron Perlman, star of Hellboy & Beauty and the Beast.

While I... I went and did shopping. PIcked up Terra Primate & GURPS ConX for $5 each, and The Black Hand for $3. TP is kinda teh suck, actually. What were they thinking? That Tim Burton's Ape Planet would launch a worldwide wave of "man vs Ape" interest?

GURPS ConX was purchased as a novelty. Should I just hand if off to the nearest SF library? Black Hand was a purchase of convenience.

I also picked up a couple Brian Bendis (No Michael for YOU!) tpbs: Powers: Roleplay and Jinx. P:R was kinda dissapointing (I guess I should have gotten Who Killed Retro Girl first, in order to get to know the characters, but the conclusion of the story seemed to be missing a few pages).

Jinx I'm still in progress of. It's odd. Bendis uses photos for reference, but his art is kinda mediocre. Interesting story so far. Of course, I may regret not picking up Goldfish first, too.

Had my first massage today. Enjoyable enough. Just a weeeee bit sore.
