Things that are less geeky.
May. 19th, 2009 04:22 pmHighlight of the weekend was getting to socialize with some friends. I mentioned that Gabe and I grabbed some Shwarma Saturday night. On Sunday afternoon I met
cairde_luis and her little girleen for lunch at Zack's.
Now, prior to that I stopped by Fandom II where I got a Babylon 5 module that is essentially West Wing in Spaaaace, with Telepaths and a couple Star Wars CMG boosters.
I once again am jonesing for a SW RPG game. I'm contemplating picking up the Saga Edition and the Legacy sourcebook and going kind of nuts.
Anyway, while at Fandom II I noticed that there was a new Bella Sara product out, which was a collectible horse fig. I figured, the girl is at that age where little girls like horses, right? So why not pick one up for her.
I managed to nail one of the free parking spots in the Byward Market (fear my parking-fu!) and met up with the girls, and we headed to Zack's for lunch. I am a sucker for a blue cheeseburger.
When we were waiting for a table to clear, I gave the girleen the Belle Sara fig. It acted as a nice icebreaker, since she turned out to be no small horse afficionado. Apparently she'd been riding since she was two, and they even had a couple Bella Sara books that had been bought the night before. Coincidence!
cairde_luis and I had known each other back in my college LARP days, when I was the beleagured prince of a major metropolis and she was pure anarchy. She eventually got married toa friend of mine, which ended a while ago. Of course, then you start doing some quick math in your head and you realize it's been over a decade since you've seen each other. We managed to reconnect via the magic of Facebook.
After lunch, I headed home, and stopped off at ACB for dinner, and ended up staying the night.

Date: 2009-05-19 10:52 pm (UTC)This system ROCKS. It combines the best aspects of d20 3.5, d20 Modern, and 4th Edition -- if they'd released "Saga Edition D&D" instead of 4th Ed, you'd be hearing a LOT fewer complaints.
