Two weeks?

So, this past weekend we took Cynra's car to her mechanic to get her oil changed and her brakes checked (verdit? Fine!) and while there we asked if they might be able to also switch out Supercar's oil. Since they don't have anyone in who's licensed to work on diesels, they passed. So, being several hundred klicks past my "service now" light, I called the dealership.

First off, I couldn't leave a message for the service rep I normally deal with, which was annoying. Then, when I did arrange a dropoff, it was at 9:15 (I start work at 9. Hmmm). And it wouldn't be for two weeks.

So Cynra & I will be doing more carpooling in her car. Which is always fun.

God, I miss the independant mechanic I used to go to. Shame he moved to Bermuda to work on a golf course down there. I should become a diesel mechanic.

Have you tried your local VW dealership, and/or indy mechanics who profess to be able to work on VWs, Audis, or Benzes? They might have the experience on-staff to deal with diesel engines, even weird exemplars like your Smart's rail engine...

To be honest, I used to have this problem before I got my old Neon, but have since gone to the same garage regularly, and he always gives me a good deal. Since the new old car is a Chrysler as well, good thing I can use the same mechanic. :)

If you do become a diesel mechanic, remember to never point an injector at your skin. The high pressure fuel spray is sufficient enough to act as a hypo-injection, and squirt diesel beneath your skin.

I had a mechanic who specialized in Smarts, but he left town. I am just too lazy to find a good mechanic. Maybe clubsmartcar.ca would have leads.

The dealership is just so convenient. And they have the machine that plugs into the car.
