So, last night I went downtown, ostensibly to hang with [livejournal.com profile] kinra, but also to do some anniversary present shopping.

One advantage of being married to a huge geek? EVERY year's a paper anniversary!

So, after rummaging through no less than four sections looking for a copy of Old Freaking Possum Where The Hell Is That Damn Book About Cats?, we gave in and I got her a book about Torchwood and the Onion's Our Dumb Century.

Whee! Shopping is fun, where fun=torment.

We grabbed some dinner at Salad King, which is an awesome Thai place that doesn't sound like it will be as tasty as it is. We checked out 401, where I showed [livejournal.com profile] kinra my good Dragon article. It still feels awesome on occasion.

So, yeah. I've wrapped her books up in a big picture of Steven McHattie screaming, and will get them to her tonight. Huzzah for TBG!

Many years ago I saw an old copy of Eliot's book at a tiny little antique book shop and was going to buy it, except the price was a bit prohibitive for a University student. There's been a few times that I wished I'd picked it up anyway!

Is it that Inside the Hub book that ripped off people's ljs without permission?

I actually think Old Possum's is out of print. If you decide to try again, let me know - I have a couple.

It's coming back soon, but the specific one we were hunting was hard to find - it's the one Gorey illustrated. Which is at least two kinds of badass.

I coincidentally have the Gorey illustrated edition (a 1985 hardcover in perfectly lovely condition). I'm not especially attached to it, so if you ever need a copy...

I wish I could remember how old, but it'd be at least 50 years old by this point. It wasn't at all recent! It wasn't the 1982 reprint, so possibly one of the editions released in the 40s or 50s.. *sigh*

Ooh..

*pops my head in* If [livejournal.com profile] thebitterguy doesn't end up being interested, and you find yourself interested in selling said book, let me know!

(I love Gorey, Eliot, cats, and Cats, and was not aware that they intersected in this manner :)
