But how the hell have we been together for almost a decade (we moved in together superbowl Sunday 1999) and I learn only now that she's never seen Goodfellas?

I mean, I thought we'd watched it together. At least, you know, fragments here and there. But no.

Man, that more than makes up for me not having seen It's a Wonderful Life.

Bitterguy's seen Wonderful Life now: we caught it at the holiday party! So that's sorted.

As for Goodfellas? Ebert called it the greatest movie of the Millennium, and I might well agree (though he did have Scorcesse as his guest on that show). But then again, I hadn't seen Wonderful Life until the party either.

So, I dunno. I think that without either of those two movies, your pop culture immersion is utterly incomplete.

Don't feel bad, I think it was six or seven years when I found out Mr. Man doesn't actually like ginger bread. I'd make it every year for Yule, when I don't like it, only to find out he doesn't like it either. Just goes to show that your spouse can still surprise you with things you don't know about them.

I haven't seen Goodfellas either.

I only saw The Godfather this year.

I went through a phase where I was very interested in the Mafia, but it was in high school.
