Remembrance Day
Nov. 11th, 2008 08:52 pmDay off from work for the holiday today, and I headed downtown for the ceremony at the Ontario Veterans Memorial.
The ceremony reminded me of many I participated in in my youth, only it wasn't raining and I didn't have to march from the cenotaph to the Legion hall.
The Memorial is quite compelling, but is quite possibly the worst possible design for a Remembrance Day celebration.
It's set into the ground, and the crowds are not able to actually see anything happening on the memorial. Unlike a normal cenotaph, which is raised up so you can at least see part of the ceremony.
After it was done,
kinra and I met up and headed to Rancho Relaxo to grab some lunch and do some kibbitzing.
Of course, RR isn't open until five, so we went to Free Times for some matzo ball soup and falafel.
We discussed a project we're contemplating, and then headed to Dragon Lady where we hung out with
papajoemambo for a bit.
After a short trip to 401 Games, I dropped off
kinra at home and headed was home for dinner w/ Cynra.
Good day, in any case, and a good holiday.
