There it goes again
Oct. 27th, 2008 09:11 pmWatched a recent Ugly Betty, and it was actually worse than the HIMYM ad. They actually had a character eating a lean cuisine lunch thing and then had an ad for them shortly afterwards.
Subtlety is not their strong suit.
The podcast I'm watching is slightly ironic.

Date: 2008-10-28 01:36 pm (UTC)And on Smallville there was an episode where kids were getting super stretching powers after eating Stride Gum (a concert held in a Stride Gum warehouse and sponsored by Stride) But the powers were temporary as long as the gum lasts. One character gleefully admits, "so that was a long time that I had stretch powers."
I prefer subtle advertising. Let them wear a brand label. Let them drive a branded car. Let them drink branded cola. But make it appropriate. Don't have them suddenly announce awkwardly that they spilled a very tasty new Diet Dr Pepper on my hip and trendy Rebokk Cross trainers, so I have to hop in my Toyota Prius Hybrid to go get another.
Pause to aim the label at the camera.
