So, yes. Another browncoat t-shirt day is in the offing, and I have a plan.
This will come off as somewhat stream of consciousness-ish, perhaps, but that's neither new nor unusual.
It started with a card game. Chez Geek. Produced by Steve Jackson Games, with art by
muskrat_john, it is a card game where each player represents a room-mate in a shared accommodation. The inhabitants of this venue are all geeks of one stripe or another, much like the prospective players of the game.
In Chez Geek, the goal is to accumulate Slack by doing things and buying stuff. People contribute slack, so if you have people in your room, they contribute slack as well.
One of the more interesting characters in Chez Geek is Mr. Enthusiasm. Mr. Enthusiasm's catchphrase is "That's Awesome!", said with a fist punched into the air. Mr. Enthusiasm's shtick is that he will go into any room where someone has just gained three or more Slack. Amusingly, this often happens when a character has sex (Nookie in the game).
Mr. Enthusiasm is wearing a green t-shirt that says on the front "Liev Schreiber Fan Club".
I think Liev Schreiber deserves a fan club. I mean, he's done a lot of good work, even if a lot of it is stage work in a strange faraway country that's too dangerous to visit. To say I'm looking forward to him hitting the silver screen as Sabretooth next year is an understatement. I loved him as Laertes in that goofy Hamlet that Ethan Hawke did.
So, when Google tells me that there is no actual Liev Schreiber fan club, I decided to become it.
(yes, yes, I'm sure that there are a smattering of Liev Schreiber Appreciation societies scattered here and there; doubtless there exist LJ communities and Facebook groups by the dozen, but
lievjournal and
lovelyliev are both moribund, to say the least. And
semi_semite has been inactive for almost two years. Ah, man.
lievjournal. That's awesome).
Anyway, the local Browncoat community is lucky enough to have a local member (
browncoat2x2) who has a t-shirt making business. Occasionally, she'll have an open house where everyone will go and make T-Shirts (surprisingly enough, mostly Firefly themed, although they'll have a lot of Dr. Who shirts).
So. My plan is to make a Liev Schreiber Fan Club t-shirt.
At this time, the plan is for a light green shirt with black printing. On the front will be the logo and a picture of Schreiber, and on the back a slogan. At the time, there are a variety of prospective slogans. Liev Free or Die, Liev and Let Live, Liev and Let Die, Lieving on a Prayer (not actually that viable), and One Life to Liev. None of them really pop, right now.
The logo will probably be a simple one, as I haven't got the design skills to conceive of something too impressive.
But all I need is that shirt, to make one little beautiful thing in the world.
